Cold Gold
31-12-15

Winter brings cold
That’s so old and
Like gold to us.
For you must see;
The winter cold brings rain for you and for me.

I love the rain;
Washes pain down
The drain, away.
I can say; gone
Are the mem’ries of my little one.
DFC #31 - The Ya Du

The Ya Du is a Burmese form consisting of four 4 syllable lines and a fifth one that can comprise of 5, 7, 9 or 11 syllables. The staircase rule applies to the four lines, and the last syllable of the fourth and fifth line must rhyme, giving a pattern of:
xxxa
xxax
xaxb
xxbc
xxxxxxxxxxxc
No more than 3 stanzas is permitted. Ya Du means “the seasons” so it is often themed around seasons.
