A handsome boy,
Some might say man,
With sparkling grass-green eyes,
Meets a girl
The world deems fat,
But sees through that disguise.

This handsome male
Falls in love,
With her loyalty, wit and charm.
He sees her honesty
And loves her, despite
The scars upon her arm.

They talk about important things,
Trusting each other’s souls.
And as the magic surrounds them,
Love comes and makes them whole.

Your eyes, it is said,
Are the windows to your soul.
The place where your deepest emotions
Rise up, unbidden, and escape:
Put on display for all to see.

They betray your best act of happiness:
For without a smile in your eyes
No smiling face is complete.

Like a broken tap,
Tears leak from eyes unsmiling:
Even tears cried in secret.

Sparkling with your sad happiness,
Eyes offer those who care to look
A glimpse of your true self:
They truly become the soul’s window.

It lies alone in this prison of flesh and bone.
My cheeks are warm,
Left that way by the steady flow of tears from my eyes.

Close the windows, the rain is getting in.

My soul is bruised,

I long for my own
As I try talk you out of yours.

I try talk you out of it
Whilst trying to stifle my own hunger.

How can I help you,

She’s not a gullible sheep,
Having the wool pulled over her eyes
As you con her into doing something she shouldn’t.
She is merely your personal carpet,
Soft and fluffy so as to not hurt your feet,
For you to walk over as and when you please.

Coffee or tea? Time she can’t afford to waste?
Money she doesn’t have to loan?
She would give it all, and more.
Do anything and everything you asked,
Wished, thought, anticipated or dreamed.

She is a squashy carpet for your bidding,
Because she fears, above all, your rejection.

That day I saw you,
That wondrous day when fate smiled at me,
Was the day I knew what it meant to live.

There was something in the way you greeted me,
The way your eyes saw my soul like no other before,
That assured my heart it was safe with you.

You were just like me,
Self-broken and falling apart.
None of us knew the answers,
But we knew we could journey together in search of them.

Together we healed:

As suppressed feelings bubble:
Visible only by her trembling hands,
And that look in her eyes
That you ignore.

Tears of unknown origin
Linger behind that look,
As she battles her very being:
The evil she believes she is.

She tries to talk
To those who would still listen,
But the Goldfish Syndrome takes over:

At her fragile soul.

When the lies are removed,
And my mind stands bereft.
The truth comes out slowly,
It’s all I have left.

When what I believed,
Is removed from my eyes,
And the truth shows my mind,
What it believed was all lies.

Then all that I have,
Is all I couldn’t see.
And all I must believe,
Is who I can be.

I am so many things, in your life

I am your airbag, when you crash
I am your ATM, when there’s no cash

I am your lawyer, when things turn bad
I am so tired, of these old games
Yet I do not get up and walk away

I am your priest, who absolves you of sin
I am your shadow, your toxic twin
I am driven up the wall, in utter despair

What do I do when pent-up emotions,
Threaten explosion unless they’re unleashed?
Where do I go to when feelings start flooding,
And the evil within me begs for release?

What will happen, I wonder, if I allow to continue,
The flood of my heart with feelings despised?
Will I last one more day on my quest for freedom,
Or will once-buried failures unbidden rise?

I cannot continue to bury emotions,
For they will not stay buried or jailed behind bars.
They threaten an out-pouring, over-riding my judgements,
And beg for bloody release in the creation of scars.

She quietly crept around the home.
Though no one ever heard her,
Or saw her, she knew them all.

She watched over them while they slept,
Making sure all was safe
And peaceful in HER house.

Nothing out of its place escaped her glance,
They were not to know what had become of her,
And wrongs were quickly righted by her presence.

He would not touch them like he did her,
For he hardly touched her at all.
Left alone crying at night,
She would watch over them all with longing.

Their stomachs grumbling
As they dreamed of meals never eaten,
Tonight she would end their pain

Epic Battle

The time had come, the brave knight knew,
To go forth to the battle ahead.
So he prepared himself mentally, for the upcoming fight,
Then tiredly got out of bed.

He readied his weapons, making sure each was sharp,
For this was truely a very fierce foe.
Then, dressed in his armour, he declared himself ready,
And marched forth, stealthy and slow.

The enemy; ready, sneaky and strong,
Was sitting there, unsuspecting.
So the brave knight went forth, with a swish and a sniff,
And successfully slayed...the onion.
