Hidden By The Night
15-8-13

Like a comfy cat my subconscious yawns
And extends its claws into my mind,
Shredding the possibility of sleep.

Once more I join the race of the night stalkers.

My mind is full of thoughts floating
Belly-up like dead fish,
While the subconscious grabs them like Gollum
And gnaws each down to its jagged core.

Welcome back to the race of the night stalkers.

I shoot songs at my subconscious to soothe it,
But while my heart craves calm Celtic Woman
My subconscious is leaning into the darkness
Of songs never to be heard.

The race of the night stalkers welcomes me back
As if I have not been away these past years.

Each day I battle for control of my mind,
I’m horribly unmatched against diseases
Whose thoughts aren’t my own.
Each night I lie exhausted,
Waiting for the sandman to sweep me out of my head
And into the darkness of nothing.
But his magic sand is not powerful enough for my
Mental mind,
So I lie awake staring silently…
Thinking of everything and nothing all at once.

The race of the night stalkers welcomes back one of its high priestesses.

And once again poetry will dry out pens,
And the prose stagnating in their folders
Will be cleaned
And returned to that ever-so-long and scary
To-do list.

As a priestess I look after fellow night stalkers;
Teaching them the secret ways of pretence and false breathing.

The High priestess has returned to the realm of the night,
Nevermore will she hide in the light.
"It's astounding, night is fleeting, insomnia takes its toll.
But listen closely...not for very much longer.
I've got to keep control."
