Ramblings of a Confused Man
14-12-13
DFC #12
Violins screech like drowned rats,
As claws stroke a chalkboard
And men whisper congrats
To the son come from abroad;
Mother’s blood returned home,
Whole, yet broken, by a sword.
He went to see the world, he went to roam,
And blood followed bodies before his eyes.
Horses breathing blood-flecked foam;
War he tried;
Oh how they lied.

For last year's DFC. Forgot I had some of these stored (I was trying to write them, promise!)

The terza rima is an Italian form created by Dante Alighieri. It features rhyming cascading tercets and an envoi (ending statement). The envoi can be two lines or one but both have to rhyme with the middle line of the last tercet. The rhyme scheme is as follows: aba; bcb; cdc; d or aba; bcb; cdc; dd with the number of tercets being unlimited and up to the poet.

I like this! The end is lovely, but sad.
