Show Them You Bless

She doesn’t want a perfect life,
Although she prays to God to make her thin,
She doesn’t want popularity,
Just some happiness within.

She wants you to make her depression vanish,
Remove the curse you planted in her at birth.
She wants you to equalise her emotions,
Substitute some sadness for mirth.

But most of all she wants for her family,
Those whom she hates to see in such pain.
And it’s for them that she’s called out to you
In prayer time and time and time again.

Let her dad find a job so that we can pay bills,
Let her dad find a job so that we can have food.
Let her dad find a job so that we don’t lose the house,
Let her dad find a job so that mom’s mood improves.

Let them not gamble, let them not lose,
Let there be money for gas.
And seeing as the pressure is on,
Please, oh please, let them not crack.

But of all of the prayers she’s prayed to you,
Your answers have been absent or ‘no’.
And so with no faith, no grace and no hope,
She really has no place to go.

She would sell herself for the cash if it wasn’t a crime,
It’s one of the talents she seems to possess.
Or stand corner, embarrassed hands cupped,
Something to ease all this financial stress.

But most of all she wonders what it was that they did,
To cause you to withdraw your hand.
Because there’s no huge sins that she can see,
Their life wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t grand,

But they got by, even though there was debt,
For her dad had a job so they could pay all the bills.
But then you screwed with them and took that away,
And now they all need happy pills.

She prayed for her baby, she prayed for her man,
She prayed for her parents and siblings too.
But all that’s happened is trouble and strife,
And nobody anybody can go to.

She doesn’t ask for miracles,
Because she knows they don’t exist,
And she doesn’t hope anymore,
Because she daren’t take the risk.
But perhaps, if you still have a heart,
You might find it in you to answer one with a ‘yes’;
Let them not lose their house to the bank,
Show them you exist; show them you bless.
