Balls of mental illness
surround and encircle me;
each more volatile than the other.

Depression;
The darkness that haunts my soul
like a poltergeist.

Schizophrenia;
The voices that haunt my mind
and make me paranoid.

Emotional Disorder;
Up one moment and out of control the next,
like a see-saw
I am a plaything.

When the medication works,
these balls encircle me
at regular intervals
with no ill-effect.

When the medication malfunctions,
these balls come crashing into me
with the force of an erupting volcano.
They are blown out of their orbit
by the cold, whimsy winds.
