Back Into It

Back Into It 31-12-12 I wrote it out of you this morning, The urge to die, But now it plagues me. As the time ticks towards the year’s passing, I wonder how much more my mind can handle – How many more issues will institutionalise me? I can hear your voice, Telling me to think of the ones left behind, But in the moment of such pain There is nobody but me. Pain sends its sharpened, icy fingers through my heart again, As I remember him, both of them, And I realise that I will start the year as I ended it; Alone. I wrote you out of it this morning, But I am writing myself right back into it.

As the Willow Watches

As the Willow Watches 7-12-11 The willow weeps, fronds fingering the water like a silent violinist. I swing over the water on naught but a rectangular plank; there's hope that it will hold my weight; risk that it will not. You push me, gently, as you pushed me into the world's ways; a suggestion here, a poke and a prod there. Encouraging me to embark on a journey outside my eggshell. The willow weeps as you sit beside me on the swing, you trail your fingers lovingly down my face; gentle as the willow caresses the water. You take my hand, as you have done many times before, and together we turn and face the world; as

Another Damaged Prayer

Another Damaged Prayer 16-01-10 God of hope and God of grace, Do you see these tears upon my face? Can you catch them in your healing hands, Or do they simply fall upon dry land? God of glory, God of power, Can you see how my soul's been devoured? Do you notice my beating but broken heart, Or can you not find it within its parts? God of mercy, God of love, The ruler of Earth and Heaven above. Do you see me as you want me to be, Or are you repulsed like the world when you look at me? God who's gentle, God who's great, Am I just a blob subject to fate? Can you love me after all I've done, Or are you too great to love this one?

Fire and Fists

Fire and Fists 25-11-09 Martinet – a strict disciplinarian The law was laid down clearly: His law; Written as much in blood As it was in ink. He was a martinet; There was a strict code to follow. Woe-betide anyone who broke the law, Or went off on their own tangent. Punishment for breaking the law was by fire. Trial by fists.

Soul Mates

Soul Mates 26-12-08 Dedicated to the one I Love Born to be together, Each was a piece of the other’s soul Missing from birth. They grew up not knowing A piece of themselves was missing. Until the day they found each other. Love super-glued their missing sections of soul together, As two ¾ people became whole: As they found each other. When hands and lips joined together, Two people became whole: Two people started the journey of becoming one.

Out of Control

Her heart leaks from her eyes: Liquid molten pain, That burns as it destroys What sanity she has left. Broken many times before - she Walks daily over The shattered pieces - her Heart turns into the crystal stones That flood down her face, And she cannot catch the pieces Before they are lost forever. Her heart floods from her eyes: She cannot start it, And she cannot get it to stop.

You Don't Know...

You Don’t Know What It’s Like… 28-02-06 You don’t know what it’s like, To be filled with a hatred so deep – so dark, So pure in it’s evil intensity – that Every part of you is despised…by you! You don’t know what it’s like, To hate yourself so much, that You wish you were anybody else – anybody But who you are, Anybody but what you look like – that You wish you were dead, Because you think you’d be better off that way. You don’t know what it’s like, To hate your body so entirely, that You despise looking in a mirror – that You cry every time y

Teach Tolerance

Teach Tolerance 19-01-18 100 Themes #42 - Start Little Johnny went to school, Where he learned the 'golden rules', That would help him grow up to be a man Who tolerates and understands. He learned that the world is made of lots Of different coloured people painting pots. And, like in art, when they work in unity They create beautiful pictures for the world to see. If you only paint in white and black, The pictures, they begin to lack That vibrancy Technicolour creates, And you begin to grow some hate. You hate the black for bringing dark, Or making that unerasureable mark. You hate the white for being too bright And always needing extra lig

Mental Manipulation

Sandy waited for Judy to cast her vote as the secret ballot went around the room. She had thought that this would be an easy task – conning parliament into a vote of no confidence against the president and, once he was deposed, taking his place as the first woman president in the history of the country – being vice president certainly had its advantages, but, no, it hadn’t been easy. For the first six rounds of voting there had been one person still on the president’s side…out of all 250 delegates, one person had voted ‘confidence’ and, of course, Sandy needed a full 100% for the vote to pass. She tho

Book Review: The Awakener by Amanda Strong

The Awakener – Amanda Strong The back of the book says: Seeing Micah for the first time in years, fifteen year old Eden wants nothing more than to run and hide, but instead in a moment of sheer embarrassment, she throws her arms around his neck; unaware she just changed her childhood friend forever. I initially downloaded this book because it sounded interesting and was going for free (I'm cheap like that), but when it came to actually reading it I had forgotten why I downloaded it in the first place. I was in for a nice surprise, as this book amazed from the first few lines and I struggled to actually put it down to do things like sl

Just Out of Reach

Just Out Of Reach 6-1-14 You reach, you can't grasp, You sigh, it won't last; The troubles and trials have followed you home. You stretch, but no grip, You climb but you trip; Always surrounded forever alone. Just out of reach floats a life worth the living, Just out of reach floats the answer to pain. Just out of  reach are hands open and giving, Just out of reach, out of reach yet again. You stand but you fall You run but you crawl Why is it so hard to just live a life? You're grasping at straws, Clenched hands and clenched jaws; Surround by torture, trouble and strife. No matter what you simply can't reach it, You try, and you try ye

Angels fall and demons rise A battle for the souls of all. Look before you step, or walk; Lead you not into temptations eyes. Sun shines gold in godly light, Sun shines gold in de
