Why hello there you lovely person. Yes, you! No, not the madly waving person behind you...just you. You have arrived at a very nice place. While we have no unicorns, candy or coffee, we do have something super nice - a book! And not just any book, a book written by yours truly. Written in 2013, edited in 2014 and finally published in 2016, Fighting Darkness (also available in eBook:  Fighting Darkness ) tells the story of Alex Glass and her daily fight with depression - a disease she has suffered with her whole life, and hates to name. Labels are a bad thing in this world, and being labelled as 'depressed' is a terrible thing. But what do you do when all you have known is sorrow and despair? Fear and pain? How do you live?

The back of the book says:
Why would a child grow up believing that she has to be perfect in everything in order to gain the approval of everyone around her? How does a child go through her whole life believing that everything always is and always will be her fault? How does a child spend a lifetime fighting battles nobody can see? It’s easy when the child in question suffers from a disease we, as humans, like to never mention. We pretend it doesn’t exist and that the people suffering from it are just insanely sad: Depression isn’t really real…is it? Alexandra Glass has suffered from depression from further back than she can recall, although she hated to name it then and still hates to name it now. There have been times her darkness has clung to her tightly; like an evil octopus…yet there have also been times when she has managed to push it a small distance away: immense battles with little result. How does one child fight an ever-growing darkness?

So, I hear you ask, what can I do about this? Well, let me tell you, and the madly waving person behind you, and the penguin next to you. You can purchase the book from Lulu.com for only $20 (paperback) or $8 (eBook) excluding shipping (I think...I have never purchased from them). Why so much? Well that translates into about R200, the average cost of a book here in the South of Africa where I'm from, and you must remember that Lulu takes a cut in order to print the book and send it to you. I only earn about $10 (R100) from each book. And for an artist who has no job (though I am sending out feelers...nobody seems to want me though: I'm the wrong gender and colour) that's R100 for medication (I'm on a crapton of it), medical bills or food.

Fighting Darkness ( Fighting Darkness ) is my biography, with names changed for safety's sake, and it tells my story up to 2013. It deals with depression, loss, love, hurt, hate and so much more. At $20 it's a steal for a slice life - and you can put it down when it gets too much for you, unlike experiencing it first-hand where you have to live it every day. Scaring you? I hope not.

Not your style of literature? Promote it amoungst your friends/watchers/family/facebook people/therapists - I'm sure there are some people out there who would read it in its entirety, or even a little bit. So, purchase the book from Lulu.com and support a fellow artist whose only income (currently) will be from the sale of these books!

Want to read a little bit to wet your whistle? Check out this gallery folder of mine where chapters 1-3 (draft six) as well as older drafts reside.

Oh, and as an aside (just for extra fun) the cover art imagined by me and drawn by our very own KryptnKnight

That's all for now folks,
Ciao,
:fish:
